Truls Möregårdh returns to Montpellier as defending champion with STIGA Sports
From 27 October to 1 November, the world’s table tennis elite return to Montpellier, France, for WTT Champions 2026. One of the standout names is Sweden’s Truls Möregårdh, who won the tournament last year after a dominant performance in the final. He now returns as defending champion, equipped with his distinctive Cybershape racket from Swedish table tennis brand STIGA Sports.
When Truls Möregårdh won WTT Champions Montpellier in November 2025, he did so in impressive fashion. In the final, he defeated Japan’s Sora Matsushima 4–0 in front of an enthusiastic crowd at Sud de France Arena.
The victory marked another milestone for the Swedish table tennis star, who had also won Europe Smash in Malmö, Sweden, earlier that year. With his creative and attacking style of play, Truls has established himself as one of the most exciting and recognisable players in world table tennis.
Truls Möregårdh has worked closely with STIGA Sports for many years. The Swedish sports company has more than 80 years of experience in table tennis, and together they have developed equipment for competition at the highest international level. This includes the distinctive Cybershape, whose hexagonal design sets it apart from traditional table tennis blades.

WTT Champions Montpellier has quickly established itself as an important event on the international table tennis calendar, attracting some of the world’s best players. For Truls Möregårdh, this year’s tournament offers the opportunity to defend his title at the same venue where he celebrated one of his major international victories in 2025.
