When world class meets expertise: Truls Möregårdh and STIGA Sports launch a new five-star bat

When STIGA Sports first unveiled its hexagonal Cybershape blade in November 2021, it was a novelty that attracted attention far beyond the world of table tennis, not least thanks to the sensational success of the then 19-year-old Truls Möregårdh at the World Championships in Houston just a few weeks later. Möregårdh won silver and his breakthrough was huge. History repeated itself with precision at the Paris Olympics last year. And the blade he played with soon earned the nickname ‘Truls bat’ among both international media and the sports-loving public.

Now STIGA Sports is once again presenting a bat bearing Truls Möregårdh's signature. The Pro Carbon+ Cybershape Truls Edition is a special edition of the popular 5-star Pro Carbon+ Cybershape, STIGA's flagship bat model. It was developed and designed by Truls Möregårdh himself together with the product experts at STIGA Sports' factory in Eskilstuna.

‘Being involved in creating a professional bat for those who play table tennis as a hobby is just as challenging and fun every time,’ comments Truls. ‘The last, and first, bat I worked on was the Cybershape Future 3-star. The most noticeable difference here is that we've increased the speed and spin,’ he explains.

Facts about the Pro Carbon+ Cybershape Truls Edition:
The blade consists of 5 layers of wood and 2 layers of carbon fibre. The optimised hitting surface on a Cybershape bat is larger than on a traditional bat. This brings the return closer to the table by a full 6.5 cm of the hitting surface compared to 2.5 cm for a round blade. The two layers of carbon fibre are created using Touch Carbon technology, which provides an ultimate bat of excellent quality. The lightweight and technically advanced carbon fibre compensates for the slightly larger blade, which means that STIGA's Cybershape shape does not become heavier despite the larger total surface area. The blade creates perfect harmony with the concave handle and ITTF-approved STAR5 rubber, providing improved control. STAR5 rubber is the most advanced in the STAR series.
