Looks cute. Deadly on court.
Amanda Girdo’s signature racket – a unique design and large sweet spot for controlled play.
What was your vision when you started developing your own racket?
- My vision was to create a racket that feels light and agile, without compromising on quality or control. It needed to reflect both my own game and my personality, but also give STIGA players a new option that meets what many are asking for.
How involved have you been in the process from idea to finished product?
- I've been involved throughout the whole process. I've had the chance to contribute with feedback and my own insights, which has let me be part of shaping the product so it really feels right in play, not just on paper.
What was the thinking behind developing a lighter racket?
- After testing a lot of different rackets, I've really noticed how much of a difference weight makes, both for the pace of the game and for the strain on the body. I wanted to create a more playable and easier-on-the-body racket, without losing the feeling in the strokes. Another advantage of a lighter racket is that you can adjust the weight yourself when needed.
What type of player is the racket for?
- It's for players who want a light, agile, and controlled racket, whatever their level. And for anyone who isn't afraid of a bit of colour on court.
How does the lower weight affect play, in your view?
- The lower weight makes you faster in play, especially in defence and at the net. I also find it gives better control in a lot of situations. Long term, it can also be easier on the body, especially for players who've had problems with overuse.
How would you describe the feeling in the racket compared to heavier models?
- It feels more manageable and responsive, which makes it easier to get the strokes right and keep control even at high pace.
Can you tell us more about the colour choice and design?
- I wanted to create a design that feels clean but also alive. Something that reflects my personality and feels modern without being too much. The colour brings energy and makes the racket a bit more fun to play with, perfect for spring and summer.
How important was it to combine performance with a clear visual identity?
- It was really important. Performance is always the foundation, but the design is a big part of the whole. Together they reflect both the STIGA Sports brand and me as a player.
You're the first female player with Cybershape, what does that mean to you?
- It feels really big, and I'm genuinely honoured by the collaboration. For me, it's a lot about daring to try something new and challenge what's already established, which is exactly what Cybershape represents.
How do you hope the racket can inspire more girls to play padel?
- I hope it can make the sport more accessible and inspiring. In a sea of different models, I want to contribute something that feels easy to choose and fun to play with: a racket that suits many people and can get more, especially girls, to want to start and develop.
How did it feel the first time you played with the finished version?
- It was a really special feeling. Getting to play with something I've been part of developing together with the STIGA Sports team, that's both exciting and a lot of fun.
If you describe the racket in three words, which do you choose?
- Light. Agile. Controlled.
