Which padel racket should I buy?
If you have just started playing padel, it can be difficult to know which padel racket to choose. With such a wide variety of types, shapes and colours on the market, the task can seem daunting. The two most important questions to ask yourself before you buy:
What is your playing level?
What type of player are you?
If you are new to the sport, it is best to choose a racket that is not too heavy. Padel rackets generally weigh between 330 and 385 g. A lighter racket is easier to use and gives you more control of your strokes. If you suffer from tennis elbow, a lighter racket is a good option since it is easier on the elbow.
A heavier racket provides more power in the strokes, but it can be clumsier and more difficult to use. Thus, it is more demanding of the player and therefore suitable for a more experienced padel player.

Which padel racket shape should I choose?
Padel rackets are available in different shapes:
Round, Drop-shaped and Diamond-shaped
A round padel racket is suitable for most players, from enthusiastic beginners to experienced competition level players, and is usually referred to as the control racket. It is easy to use, and provides good control, precision and speed. The sweet spot is more central, making the racket easier to handle while offering a better feeling. Ideal for players with a slightly more defensive style, who enjoy being close to the glass and reacting quickly to the ball. Round rackets are often perceived as compliant and are equally suitable for beginners, everyday players and competition level players.
Our padel rackets have a round shape, a type that is suitable for most padel enthusiasts. Read more about STIGA padel rackets here.
A diamond-shaped padel racket focuses on speed and power, and is often intended for advanced, offensive play. The sweet spot on a diamond-shaped racket lies close to the outer edge. The racket is slightly more difficult to use and therefore suitable for everyday players.
A drop-shaped padel racket (also called a hybrid racket) combines the characteristics of the round and diamond-shaped rackets, and is suitable for players who alternate between defensive and aggressive play.
